Falcon
Fastpitch player Samantha Schmidt has made an immediate impact on this
year's team. Batting .464 on the season, Schmidt leads the squad not
only in hitting, but in clutch performances. Against Owatonna with
one runner on and two outs late in the game, Schmidt hit a shot over the
third baseman's head to score what turned out to be the game-winner.
Just two days later, Schmidt tied the game in the bottom of the 11th
against Winona with a two-run RBI double. Faribault went on to
victory in a 12-inning battle. In Game #2, the Falcons again faced
an uphill climb with two outs in the bottom of the 7th and trailing by
one. Schmidt hit a smash down the 3rd baseline to score not only the
tieing run, but also the game-winner. Her teammates met her midfield
and flooded her with huge hugs and shouts of great encouragement.
Keep it up Samantha, we're all proud of you!
